Foam roller: what’s it good for?

Did you know it takes 925kg of force to compress or stretch the fascia lata in the thigh? If you were looking for the kg to lb conversion… that’s 2040lbs. That is equivalent to a Black Rhinoceros.

So what gives?

Hint: it isn’t the fascia lata!

Educate the masses that they aren’t stretching the IT Band (which is a thickening of the fascia lata) with foam rolling, nor, is it even possible mechanically to stretch the IT Band.

“But it feels good? And I get relief? I’m so mobile after!”

You can thank you neurons and your nervous system. Consider foam rolling a way to provide stimulus to the nervous system to decrease areas that process pain.

“The more you know”…
